Cutters go into Atlas Copco Camp

January 12, 2012

This week-end the Skills Training Mackay Cutters will go into camp as part of their gruelling preseason schedule. This year's camp, proudly supported by Atlas Copco Mining and Rock Excavation Australia, will be held at the Action Challenge at Hay Point.

Head Coach Anthony Seibold has prepared a full program for the camp which has players leaving on Friday afternoon and returning on Saturday evening. "We have combined football elements as well as the group initiative team building aspects that Action Challenge offers. Hopefully we can get the benefit of some extended time on the field as well as take the players out of their comfort zone a bit." Seibold said. All football related training will occur at Ray Edwards oval in Sarina. "It is great to have the support of the Sarina Rugby League. Sarina President, Des Payne, has been really welcoming of us and will also put a BBQ on for the players at lunchtime on Saturday." Seibold added.

Mackay Cutters CEO, Glenn Ottaway said, "the support of Sarina Rugby League, Action Challenge, and in particular Atlas Copco is fantastic". In previous years players have had to contribute financially to the cost of the camp. With Atlas Copco on board as the official sponsor of the camp the players are not burdened with additional costs. On the signing Ottaway commented, "they have been great to deal with. It was a really short turnaround time to get the sponsorship approved and they pushed it through their system quickly for us."
