The teams for the annual XXXX City v Country clash have been named and the Mackay Cutters feature prominently in this year’s Country team. Four players were selected, all in the starting team –
Liam McDonald – Front Row
Tyson Martin – Centre
Donald Malone – Wing
Justin Hunt – Fullback
The Country team has a distinct Mackay flavor this year with local products Daly Cherry-Evans (Sunshine Coast) and Selasi Berdie (Tweed Seagulls) also making the team.
The Country team will play City at Gympie this Saturday which will be televised live on the ABC at 2pm. Following this game they will select a Queensland Residents team which will play NSW Residents as the main curtain raiser to State of Origin 3 in Sydney.
The Cutters also have representation in the Queensland Rangers team which is selected from all of the local leagues in the state. Centre Dean Tass made the Rangers team which will play NSW Country in Bundaberg on July 10.
Congratulations to all five Cutters boys, I’m sure they will do us proud!
