The North Queensland rugby league triad converged on Dairy Farmers Stadium this week with key representatives from the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, Mackay Cutters and Northern Pride meeting for a strategic planning and development session.
The Cowboys hosted the ‘Three Clubs Meeting’, with discussion covering a range of topics including players, coaching, commercial opportunities and operations, and included the following attendees:
As feeder clubs, the Mackay Cutters and Northern Pride provide an important competitive training and playing environment in the QRL for contracted players with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys.
The clubs are also integral to developing and retaining North Queensland talent and have a strong focus on supporting their local communities through employment and business networking and contributing to their regional profile.
Cowboys Executive Director Peter Parr saw the meeting as an important initiative in maintaining the strong ties between the clubs.
“Our feeder system ensures a collaborative and focused approach to the future of competitive rugby league in our region,” Parr said.
“Together with the Pride and the Cutters, we’re expanding on our vision for the health and wealth of the code in our footprint and for the local communities that support us.”
This was the first meeting for incoming Cutters’ coach Paul Bramley, who has previous ties with Cowboys coach Neil Henry through the Canberra Raiders and Souths Logan Magpies feeder club connection.
