Wise Guys Out There (WGOT) is a skills development initiative of Pioneer Employment.
WGOT was started in 2007 with just 4 participants and has since grown to a group of 12.
This season WGOT meets every Friday and focuses on teaching young people with disability, social and life skills to assist with employment in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
The Wise Guys are learning about team building, motivation and employer expectations whilst participating in fitness activities at City Fitness circuit training, hydro-therapy at the Blue Water Lagoon and most recently STM Cutters boot camp with head coach Shane Muspratt and assistant coach Richard Walsh.
The group was put through their paces on the field with a coaching clinic involving basic core skills needed for Rugby League and also teamwork activities that will cross over into the workplace.
Following this Shane explained the work that goes into preparing for each team in the Queensland Cup through the use of the League Analyser video system and talked about the importance of communication, trust and working together as a team to achieve a common goal.
Finally each person was rewarded with a couple of parting gifts – a football courtesy of John Donnelly the Good Guys and a free pass to the next STM Cutters home game on the 25th of April against the Norths Devils where we hope to see them all cheering the team on !!
