Skills Training Mackay to Continue their Support of the Mackay Cutters

November 18, 2009

Skills Training Mackay has extended their support of the Mackay Cutters for another year. This means that the local training company will have been with the team for the full three years of their license into the Queensland Cup competition. It is a show of confidence by Skills Training Mackay in the operations and promotions provided through the Mackay Cutters.

General Manager of Skills Training Mackay Mr. Greg Sutherland said that funding is provided through the Community Support Program of the organization. Skills Training Mackay supports a number of community initiatives including the Cutters and many other local sports and services groups. “We get behind everything from Mackay Tourism and Hospitality Expo to local rodeos, junior soccer, schools, youth groups, senior programs, the Sugar Festival and special community events like White Ribbon Day and NAIDOC.

We value our association with the Mackay Cutters as they play in a state wide competition and our business is stretching from the Mackay region to other parts of Queensland. Skills Training Mackay is entering our 21st year of operation and we see the linkage with the Mackay Cutters as an important method to get out training information out into the community.

The Skills Training Mackay Cutters are a valuable promotional tool for our region and that links to the many clients we have from the construction, mining, and service industries. Our cluster of courses from senior first aid, forklift operations, dogger and rigger, confined spaces, elevated platform plus the STM driving school, employment programs, construction white cards, mining inductions and specialized courses add to the network available to us through this agreement.

Greg Sutherland added that Skills Training Mackay is able to call on the services of the Mackay Cutters staff and players to attend programs and provide information to unemployed youth and those in need of motivation. “This is often the unheralded side of our Community Support Program, where we can utalise the experiences of the Mackay Cutters to assist to the who may need a hand along the way when training or looking to advance their own careers at work.”

“The Board, Staff and clients of Skills Training Mackay are looking forward to working with the Mackay Cutters in season 2010 and are enthusiastic about the new signings and appointment of new coach Paul Bramley” he said.
